Cross-country skiing in untouched nature
The Zillertal Arena holiday region is a true cross-country skiing paradise with 200 km of freshly-groomed trails with guaranteed snow waiting to be explored from December until Easter.
Loipe Schönachtal - Stinkmoosalm cross-country skiing trail (approx. 6 km)
The trail starts at the Oberwirt car park and from there crosses the Gerlosbach bridge. Following the right bank of the stream, the cross-country skiing trail leads you to the entrance of the Schönachtal valley.
At the end of this trail, a 15-minute walk on the cleared hiking trail into the inner valley takes you to the “Stinkmossalm” cross-country skiing trail. This trail leads over some hilly terrain and is one of the most beautiful and most popular trails in Gerlos. At the end of the trail, it is just a short walk to the “Lackenalm” snack bar.
Difficulty: Easy to medium
Innertal – Alpina – Schönachtal cross-country skiing trail (approx. 6 km):
Once again, the trail starts at the Oberwirt car park, but this time follows the left bank of the stream towards Innertal - past the power plant - into the “Funsingau” valley. On the way back, the trail crosses the wooden bridge (opposite the Innertalerhof), goes through the underpass into the Schönachtal valley, passes the Schönachhof and leads back towards Gerlos on the opposite side of the Schönach stream.
Difficulty: Easy
High-altitude cross-country skiing trail on the Gerlosplatte (7 km):
The highest cross-country skiing trail (circuit) lies on the Gerlosplatte (1,640 m) in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Go by car to the “Gerlosplatte”. The trail starts at the Gerlosplatte sport hotel.
